Cross Laminated Timber in School Project | Egoin

The Herri Eskola in Alkiza, Guipuzcoa, designed by Soroa Arquitectos and Altuna y Uría, is a modern educational facility designed with efficiency, sustainability, and environmental respect in mind, with Egoin's wood as a fundamental element.

For this project, covering an area of 825 square meters, Egoin utilized 300 cubic meters of CLT wood and 3 cubic meters of glued laminated wood. The structure comprises a gable roof integrating a ground floor and two upper floors, predominantly made of visible CLT wood. The building features a prominent 6.5-meter-long span, supported by a 240mm thick cross laminated timber floor, with a 3.7-meter overhang above the entrance. The staircases are also constructed with visible CLT wood structure and railing.
