Text description provided by the architects. This house resulted from an enviable brief to create a permanent family home at the beach on Stradbroke Island for a young family.
The house explores a courtyard design while also elevating the living areas to take full advantage of the gorgeous northerly water views. The architecture is pluralistic and references “straddie shacks”, eclectic materials and multiple forms in its ultimate resolution.
A rich and resort like palette of materials creates a distinctly rich but relaxed environment from where one can escape the trappings of the city and get back to basics.
