Text description provided by the architects. The aim of the project was to create a spacious family house in the village of Haacht. The orientation and the narrow plot lead a plan L-shaped around a terrace overlooking the street. The living spaces, located on the ground floor, consist of a large living room and a kitchen in its purest form : a large work table of 8m long, holding its opening on the street.
The upper floor is organized along a corridor enlighten by detailed skylights. A skin of wood covered the ground creating a unity and a contrast with the white walls.
The mass of the envelope made of dark brick highlights the fragility of the windows. The structure made by in situ concrete is permanently visible in the house, and is supported by eight fins 40mm x 300 mm steel columns, increasing the views angles in the house.
