The Funeral of Matosinhos be built parallel to the street Sendim, in the area bounded on the north by the street José da Silva, on the east by a footpath, south on Sendim Street and west of the cemetery Sendim. The land available is about 8,789 m2 and the area of implantation of the building is 1515 m2.
Programme
The Funeral respond in detail to a preliminary program on the various functions that are inherent. It is divided into three blocks linked by a gallery / main hall, designated by block A where the Administrative and Support Services: Cafes and its service area and Florist, Block B, antechambers and Funeral Chapels (3 chapels ) Chapel of the senses, Memory Chapel and the Chapel of the Infinite), supported by a café and a main hall and a living Tanatopraxia counseling; Block C - living room / waiting room, delivery room ash (Renaissance Room) room and fired up to 120 people and a gallery on the upper level, which aims to various phases of the cremation process enriching the ability to use it, a space that is intended to be exhaustive.
The departure lounge has a significant relationship with the sea, the horizon through a crystal that allows to read. The urn is placed through this same axis, disappearing into the "horizon" and then descends to the raised floor in a hydraulic platform solution studied to avoid being seen by people.
On the ground floor is the support térnica cremation - cremation, urns machine input, and the treatment room of ash. In addition to a cooling room, room of labeling among others. In the space surrounding the green elements are predominant, an extensive line of green bamboo reinforce the fact the main gallery, as well as local routes and pleasant stay.
This building was designed taking into account the satisfaction of the requirements of thermal comfort, so that the needs of heating, lighting and ventilation not lead to excessive energy expenditure. For the purposes of heating water and sanitation on the same principle was considered the installation of properly sized solar panels for installation.
Garden
Like the “farewell” room of the building, the garden has an important relationship with the sea, the horizon and sky. The intention is that the Garden of Remembrance is both symbolic and spiritual. It is a place of meditation and reunion which translates into a metaphor to the life cycle,which is represented Birth, Maturity and Death through a sequence of circles smoothly shaped and arranged in size and height depending on the evolution of this cycle.
