Text description provided by the architects. The building is located with in the Natural Park of Los Calares del Mundo y la Sima in the area belonging to the municipality of Yeste, which is located in the province of Albacete, Castilla – La Mancha community (Spain).
Not defined as a parcel belonging to the natural park environment. The building has a foot print on the ground of 335.85 m2. The land where it sits is quite hilly, reaching the highest point of a hillock over looking the distant views over the village and faces south.
The requested program is the classic one Centre. It incorporates the building blocks of the Board of Interpretation and the Screening Room and meetings.
The latter should serv both for the projections of the Natural Park and a meeting room for the board of the same, to change of use withthe single modification of the furniture susceptible of different groupings.
These units are accompanied with an access area, lobby, reception and administration area with two offices, service area with toilets, storage and bathroom facilities and a transit area between the private and public.
It was decided to place the building on top of the area to enjoy the magnificent views of the valley and the village. In addition, this position coincides with the south facing to allow a maximum use passive solar and avoid indiscriminate cutting of the existingpine.
The access part of the excavated area next to the road and chosen to place the parking lot. It has been suggested a path of 4 meters wide to allow access total types of vehicles.
Given the characteristics of the bedrock, has designed a building supported on elevation + 988, avoiding excessive and expensive clearing and reshaping itself with surrounding land contribution of the sameprofile as much as possible to integrate in to the surrounding environment. This cover shave the potential to be accessible to generate external view points and are to ppedwithmaterials of the place with a garden. These view points are reproduced on the inside like big eyes, control elements of landscape and natural scenes the ultimately allow a direct interpretation of natural and urban environment more evident.
