Text description provided by the architects. This site originally was filled with a volume that lacked a clear form and was slicing the property and surrounding garden areas into unusable spaces. The pre-existing garage was removed and a new design was proposed focusing on leisure, gardening, and storage, along with uniting the previously disjointed spaces.
The program required both public and private areas. A new concrete block garage was constructed, accommodating up to 3 cars as well as spaces for storage. The architect utilized the new garage structure to carve out nooks and maximizing the garden space. The result is an interesting mix of colors and intimate spaces. The barbecue/outdoor entertainment area opes on to the lawn, and the gardens are defined in segments for vegetables and fruit trees.
Carefully placed on the southwest face on a steeply wooded slop are the utilities, laundry, bathroom, and a passageway to the garage. Facing the vegetable garden is a space designed for the storage of tools and the inside wall, facing the parking spaces is another nook for wood storage.
The resulting structure is an 18 x 8.5 x 2.5m rectangle parallelepiped with a hipped roof, subdivided in 6 different parts fulfilling 6 different needs. Each service is identified with a different color and is within a homogeneous concrete structure, composing 4 different facades of a right rectangular prism.
