Paul Rudolph’s Sanderling Beach Club Cabanas in Florida Destroyed by Hurricane

On September 27, 2024, the Paul Rudolph Institute of Modern Architecture has announced that the Sanderling Beach Club, a complex of beachside buildings 1952 building designed by Paul Rudolph in 1952 in Sarasota, Florida, has been completely destroyed by Hurricane Helene. The severe tropical storm, a Category 4 Hurricane, has had a devastating impact on communities across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia.

SarasotaMOD Weekend

Sarasota Architectural Foundation, in partnership with Sarasota Museum of Art, presents the third annual midcentury modern architecture festival November 11-13, 2016. SarasotaMOD will pay a special tribute to acclaimed architect Victor Lundy. The three-day weekend will feature Lundy-themed presentations by architects and historians, a Lundy film screening, trolley and walking tours, a gallery exhibition of Lundy's artwork, and an opening night party in one of his most celebrated buildings. Adding to the festivities will be private access to iconic Sarasota modernist homes designed by Lundy’s contemporaries, including Paul Rudolph and Edward “Tim” Seibert.

Paul Rudolph's Iconic Walker Guest House To Be Re-Constructed

The Sarasota Architectural Foundation (SAF) has announced that a replica of Paul Rudolph’s Walker Guest House will be constructed at the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida. It is hoped the iconic, 24' x 24' vacation cottage will be opened to the public by 2015, after which it will be disassembled and transported to select museums around the country.
