Designed by Bez + Kock Architekten in collaboration with Koeber Landschaftsarchitektur, the Luisenpark aviary spans 1,300 m² and reaches a maximum height of 13 meters. The structure blends architecture and nature, creating an optimal environment for various bird species, such as African storks and red ibises. Its lightweight and air-permeable design fosters natural vegetation growth, ensuring both bird safety and visitor engagement.

To achieve a seamless balance between security and transparency, Jakob Rope Systems’ Webnet micro black stainless steel mesh was installed across the aviary’s walls and roof. The floating 1,950 m² roof is supported by three 16-meter-high pylons, ensuring stability while maintaining an open visual experience. The installation, completed between February and April 2023, required precision and adaptability due to winter conditions. Telescopic articulated platforms and specialized scaffolding facilitated an efficient and accurate assembly process. Known for its durability and flexibility, Webnet micro has become a preferred solution in zoo architecture, offering low maintenance and aesthetic integration.
