Lighting Fixtures at Fels in der Brandung | Occhio

Occhio creates high-end lighting products, offering innovative designs that enable users to customize their spaces. The concrete residence Fels in der Brandung features an atmospheric design using Occhio's lighting fixtures.

Fels in der Brandung, which in German translates to "pillar of strength", is the new house of two residents who lost their former house to a flood in 2013. Koeberl doeringer architekten designed the new house as a black concrete monolith that nestles directly on the banks of the river Inn. Responding to the owners' past experience as well as the hydrological challenges of the terrain, the new building is braced against the raging waters below. To balance the harshness of the black concrete, the architects incorporated a selection of Occhio's lighting fixtures that provide a warm atmosphere. The lighting design cascades over the walls highlighting their sculptural qualities, while also evoking a sense of security.

The architects chose matte black Più alto spotlights to enhance the black walls and cast a warm glow on the exposed concrete, creating a cozy atmosphere. The rotatable, swiveling design provides flexibility for adjusting to interior changes. The minimalist surface-mounted Più alto spotlights replaced the need for wall art, as their light highlights the concrete’s material qualities. Their lens optics cast soft light on the black walls, turning the architecture into a livable work of art.

For the dining area, a Mito volo suspended luminaire complements the cubic shapes of the architecture. Its height adjustment feature allows it to float at any level while remaining perfectly balanced. Gesture controls enable easy adjustment of uplight and downlight to change the lighting ambiance.

Mito largo and Mito raggio arc luminaires, characterized by their curved lines and elegant metallic rings, cast a soft light in the lounge areas, maintaining a calm environment that can be adjusted according to the desired atmosphere.
