More about this product

Occhio creates high-end lighting products, offering innovative designs that enable users to customize their spaces. Tim Glücker, the new owner of Villa Blochwitz, aimed to revitalize the iconic Bauhaus building by enhancing the original design with a new lighting concept developed in collaboration with Occhio

Villa Blochwitz, originally designed by Arthur Blochwitz in 1932, is an important testimony to the Bauhaus movement and modern architecture from the interwar period. The building has been refurbished to meet modern living standards, while still preserving the principles of the movement, such as functional modular distribution and clean-lined design. With Occhio the new owner aimed to emphasize Blochwitz's use of geometry by introducing a lighting concept that enables a dialogue between architecture and natural light throughout the day.

The Mito sospeso pendant light is the focal point above the dining table, complemented by the Più alto spotlights, which offer ambient lighting for the room. The positioning of the spotlights, present in different areas of the house, serves as a stylistic element to create a visual focal point that adds a distinct and calming balance to the atmosphere. The Sento sospeso luminaire, chosen for the sleeping area next to the bed, adds warmth to the ambiance without competing with other light cones.

The symmetry of the curved stairwell, flanked by glass block walls, was accentuated with a single Sento verticale fixture. The soft light that streams from the sides merges with the warm light projected by Occhio's wall luminaire.

Additionally, the lighting design included the versatile Gioia lettura reading lamp. This award-winning fixture facilitates ambiance illuminating or focused light reading through its adaptable features, such as adjustable height, orientation, color temperature, and intensity.
