Rib Panels are mass timber products that can be used for long-span floors and roofs where high load-bearing capacity and low self-weight are required. Stora Enso offers two types of Rib Panels: made from CLT combined with GLT (glulam) or from LVL. All of the Rib Panels can be installed quickly and easily on-site and are CE-marked.

Rib Panels provide strength and structural performance at this climbing gym, which reduces the need for load-bearing walls and columns and allows for more architectural freedom. |
Applications
For spans longer than six meters, Rib Panels provide an effective, economical solution. They have superior strength, stability, and high load-bearing capacity, at a low weight. This provides builders and designers with new possibilities in design, as well as maximum structural performance using less material. The space between ribs can be used to route service lines or other installations. This can be ideal for public buildings that require good acoustic characteristics. Because rib panels are prefabricated and lightweight, builders can get a faster workflow from delivery to assembly compared with other construction methods. There is no forming or curing time and no special equipment is needed.
Benefits of construction using CLT Rib Floors:
- Prefabricated and lightweight panels allow for rapid workflow from delivery to assembly.
- Rib Panels by Stora Enso use wood in the most efficient way possible—yield more m² with less raw material
- Floors and roofs made from Rib Panels allow for flexible floor plans that can be easily repurposed for changing needs
- Less need for beams and load-bearing walls gives more architectural freedom
- Insulation can be integrated into the structural layer of an LVL Rib Panel
- The space between the ribs of CLT Rib Panels can be used to route services or other installations
