Lamberts manufactures cast glass which is glass formed by rolling processes. The company uses state-of-the-art machinery and is a leading factory of high-quality architectural glass with the lowest CO2 emissions. Linit® Ecoglass, a profiled glass from Lamberts, was used in a boathouse in Bavaria, Germany.
The challenge for the architect Fabian Wagner from Breitbrunn was to preserve the existing building and refurbish it. Built in 1905, the building is the centerpiece of a sailing club in Utting am Ammersee. The wooden building with a high gable roof, a few windows, and a large, two-winged gate served primarily as a parking space for boats until then. When training rooms for the youth sailors were needed, the decision was made against a new building but in favour of restoring the existing building to its original state. To preserve the historic substance, the architects designed a house-in-house concept.
A timber-framed volume was added on the upper floor of the lakeside area, which now houses the new training room. The interior and the room are divided by a ceiling-high profiled glass wall made of LINIT® EcoGlass clarissimo. This type of profiled glass is manufactured with non-structured rollers and has excellent transparency, providing an attractive visual aspect.
