Welcoming to visitors to the region, this eye-catching terrazzo floor is an invitation to interact with the design elements of the Finger Lakes Welcome Center’s water-and-wine theme. The creativity and complexity of this three-color installation demonstrate the versatility of terrazzo.
Reminiscent of a grapevine winding through the wood-grained tile, the curved path enters from the sidewalk outdoors and seems to pour into the map. The intricately detailed map identifies local landmarks and wine trails in brass, accented by one-eighth-inch brass strips, glass, mother-of-pearl, marble, and mirror aggregate which was provided by Terrazzo & Marble-Supply Companies.
