International Ideas Competition: Resolute Arch

What does context mean? How can it change the meaning of a particular piece?

Rhodeswork Design Studio invites emerging artists from anywhere in the world to imagine a site-specific, dramatic, and meaningful context for Resolute Arch, the new sculpture by studio principal Richard Rhodes. The sculpture, a granite arch broken near its apex, will premiere at Burning Man in 2018; from there, it will travel for the next three years, to be installed in five different cities around the world.

Five entries will be selected as winners. Authors of the five winning proposals will join Resolute Arch Art Support Camp

DETAIL Prize 2018

DETAIL is awarding the international DETAIL Prize 2018, and in doing so once again recognising the importance of innovative details for the overall design concept. In keeping with the journal's self-conception, architecture is thereby defined in its entirety: The architecture prize honours innovative building construction projects, outstanding interior design and construction-related highlights.

Cities in Asia Summer Program: Studio Shanghai-Tokyo, June 23 to July 15

This credit-bearing HKU course was established in 2010 to focus on urgent architectural and urban issues confronting Asian cities today. It is an immersive course designed to expose students to daily learning activities including lectures, seminars, studio crits, field work, firm visits, and design reviews. The nature of work ranges from critical reading of texts, individual assignments, to design and research collaborations.
