Text description provided by the architects. A voracious industrial development has strongly modified the rustic landscape of the valley of Escombreras, planting it with huge tanks and sheds. We are used to associating refineries with desolation.
Large-caliber pipes meander through the valley to its terminals in the bay. An arid background wraps all manufacturing industries. Austere mountains, barren landscape, desert in its nature and hostile in its artifice.
The Services, Offices and Staff Buildings serve as facade and manufacturing enclosure. The stone wall, with visual impact, unifies the various functions, which are attached behind and serve as bioclimatic damping against the strong setting sun of the Escombreras Valley.
The offices open to the outside, a lemon grove separates them from the manufacturing facilities, and to light courtyards.
The building we designed solves the program of administrative and technical needs of the factory and solves the needs generated by the staff who work there. Serenely expressive and evocative interiors, next to the factory complex.
The three functions required, technical, administrative and restrooms, are arranged in a U shape around a courtyard / semi-sunken square, open to the south.
This depression in the courtyard generates ramps to the access and platforms with different slopes, creating irregular geometries where gardens and a small reflecting pool are laid out.
