Text description provided by the architects. The environment and building location
The plot donated by the Hon. City Hall is located in a residential area, with major infrastructure and public facilities and in direct relation to Chinchibarra park, an important neighborhood recreation area. It is high in relation to the surrounding streets and the public park, which allows wide views of the environment.
It was a priority to integrate the building with the environment, opening the building with large windows overlooking the park, so that the occupants were in direct relationship with the park and the neighborhood.
Functional program
The needs are those of a residence based on a model of independent modules with a maximum capacity of 10 occupants, functioning as family units, these elements share kitchen facilities, laundry and bathroom.
Organization scheme
The building is divided into two wings with 8 bedrooms and living room, connected by two elements which are on the one hand the access and control area, and on the other the core facilities, kitchen and laundry. Each wing is divided into two sets of four bedrooms and a central living room overlooking both the exterior and the interior courtyard that relates both units.
Constructive system and services
The construction system has placed special emphasis on energy efficiency, using cladding, joinery and thermal insulation systems above the required regulatory levels, and also on energy production systems with high energy efficiency, condensing boilers and heat pumps to produce hot and cold water for floor heating.
The most important factor in the facilities has been implementing automation systems that allow for the greatest possible independence of residents, facilitating their personal autonomy, opening enclosures and control parameters within the rooms.
