Text description provided by the architects. An old farm building in an exceptional location on the outskirts of town in front of agricultural land with panoramic views looking out toward the Cadi mountain range and good solar orientation.
We have the building, the courtyard-stable and a porch on two levels. The main body of the construction, an old barn, contains three levels, which within a specific order, house the living room/dining area/kitchen on the lower level with the courtyard as it’s extension. The master bedroom and study are on the first floor with other bedrooms on the third level.
The three floors are connected by an open staircase and by the existence of two linked double-height open spaces that ensure comprehensive understanding of the section, understood as a unified whole.
The composition of the facades is free, abstract and non-pintoresque respecting the spirit of the place and the current regulations with a constellation of openings both pre-existing plus ones resulting from the new construction. The dominant material is stone.
