Text description provided by the architects. The commission consisted of refurbishing an apartment which is intended to have the master bedroom as protagonist and especially as the main entry of natural light throughout the house. The most important and where the owners put more emphasis was the quality of natural light. Their previous house was dark with endless corridors, used only distribution into rooms. For the new project they demanded light inside the house and all its precincts. For this, large windows in common areas, skylights and windows in secondary bedrooms with direct views to the mountains and sunrise from the east were projected.
A second floor for exclusive use of the homeowners is projected, including desks, ample space for the bed, a bathroom with modern amenities while respecting simplicity and good taste parameters. All the furniture: closet, bed backs, desks, etc. were custom designed, achieving through this a good marriage between architecture and furnishing. Design of the terraces on the second floor contributes to its extension outwards, achieving a space that is not secretive but still private.
Materials of the original house, like wood trusses used for external cladding and some furniture inside were rescued. This mutation promotes a new home without neglecting its original elements. The project does not seek to excel in the neighbourhood, trying to achieve an integration that makes a difference without bothering the neighbours.
