Text description provided by the architects. The architectural competition left the choice to the architects: demolish the existing buildings to reconstruct new one’s or rehabilitate them.
Our approach joins the border of these 2 solutions. We preserved the old buildings to install the new program. To reach the energy goals (the building produces more energy than it consumes it) a new “box” was juxtaposed in the existing volume.
The former barn became an in/out space which allows to create a reception hall and to distribute the new premises.
The spatial wealth of the project ensues from the new/old relationship glorified by the quality of the existing volume. The massive use of wood for the structure and the cladding of the new "box" strengthens this idea of dialogue between the new buidings and the old farm materials.
To highlight the quality of the landscape windows were thought as rooms...the visitor enters the window to enjoy the beautiful landscape.
