Text description provided by the architects. This assignment consisted in the implementation of a school for the town of Maipú. The program considered: classrooms for 1280 pupils, ateliers, administrative areas and inner yards inside the mean volumen of this school.
There is also an area of courtyards with gardens, sports fields and an indoor gym. This school is placed in René Becerra Street, nº 3600, between El Bosque St. and Hernán Diaz arrieta St.
Is located in an area noted by the increasing real estate development besides there are agricultural areas in its boundaries. A particular property of this terrain is its surface, 13.200m2 that lets the building to have big courtyards and gardens that make a good school life.
The building sets in the largest and main front of the land with a 4 floor volumen that occupies most of the front. So this the school gets a leading role within the immediate scale and communal context.
The horizontality of the building gives consistent proportions to set with the vertical rhythm induced by the inner yards partitions. Microwell shades and concrete are the ritmical elements of the school, these two materials are the spatial characteristic of the building. Using live colours in Windows and shades the building gets an urban identity and presence
