Text description provided by the architects. The project involves the renovation and partial reconstruction of a residence located in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. The project takes advantage of the surrounding views and the topographical conditions of the site to achieve a home that is perceived more as a journey through the site, than as a house itself.
This route starts from the entrance at street level, and continues through a series of garden platforms articulated by stone walls and platforms that are arranged so that they can provide different views of the environment.
The program of the house is divided into two building blocks, which are linked together by a living room located at the center of the spaces, set at a level below, corresponding to the level of the terrain. This room can be traversed by a glass bridge that takes visitors to the dining room. The main room is lit naturally through a dome.
The layout of the house is accented by sturdy stone walls, which in turn are the main structural elements. These stone walls are built on a base of exposed concrete and clad with stone from the site to achieve a greater integration between the home and the environment.
All cuts and excavations have been left exposed to achieve a greater integration between the house and the site.
