This project, delivered in December 2007, is located in the town of Cenon and involves the demolition of an existing school and the reconstruction of kindergarten Jean Jaurès. The new building, covering an area of 1 000 m² shon, is located at the corner of a street and facing up to the Martyrs of the Resistance. The old school on the back, once demolished, freeing space for the playground.
This project is compact within the residential fabric while maintaining its image as a public facility. The building wraps around a patio with a view to comfort and energy makes a generous light in the classrooms. The entry courtyard and an integral part of the building, created through the patio, a visual link between the Place des Martyrs of the Resistance and the playground. The sloping roof sections to the heart of the building exterior facades allow more generous and give the school the status of public building on the street, while they generate a more appréhensible children around the patio. There are devices on the fronts a band under the glass roof that allows a double lighting spaces.
To not interfere with the operation of the school during the work and prevent the relocation, construction - deconstruction was conducted in two phases and nuisance from the site have been minimized.
The building was built in metal structure with wood filler, larch, benefited from a choice of quality materials and easy through an HQE. In the same way, using a floor heating to low temperatures and significant natural light, illustrates the efforts to minimize the energy consumption of the building. The project has been funded to the tune of 400 000 by the General Council of the Gironde for the respect of at least 7 of 14 targets on the HQE.
