Text description provided by the architects. The project arises from the willingness to study how a townhouse, that is, with one of its party walls with no openings, can get natural light around the entire perimeter, and therefore have the same qualities as an isolated house.
To achieve this goal, the area immediately adjacent to the party wall generates a series of triple spaces, skylights, and courtyards that cross all the floors of the house, generating a spatial and luminous complexity, as well as views both in plan and in section, discovering a surprising interior within a perimeter that results from a strict building code.
The program is organized in a single volume, limited by the minimum buildable distances and depths of the lot. The result is a rectangle located in the middle of the lot, creating an entrance courtyard on the rear and a garden raised above the street, overlooking the sea.
In the basement, the entrance and parking for two vehicles are organized at the street level. At the back of the lot, a courtyard that crosses the entire house brings light and ventilation to this buried floor. From the entrance, a staircase leads directly to the ground floor, where the living room, dining room, and kitchen are organized. Between the living room and dining room is a small bathroom for this floor that also divides the space.
The courtyard contains a closed staircase that leads to the first floor, where 3 bedrooms are laid out. Two double bedrooms share a bathroom across the courtyard, supported on the party wall, and a main bedroom with bathroom en suite. A new staircase, laid out immediately above the previous one, leads to the second floor, where there is a small studio and a terrace open towards the south.
