Text description provided by the architects. The project is the rehabilitation of a crowded public building dedicated to the sport. The actions required in the bases of the contest for the rehabilitation of the building can be summarized into three types: functional, constructive and facilities. From the reading of the intervention parameters, and with a much defined budget, we dump our intervention: firstly improve and renovate facilities and equipment locker / services, and secondly, update the inside the sports centre, work done in the '60s, within a depressed area of the City. The sequence of the conception of the project, executed from inside of the pavilion to the outside, through the development of facilities, vertical cores and from there finally access to the site.
Thus a first contact with the materialization of the custom determined as a fundamental fact to get a totalizing view of the work from the income, and this is enhanced by the renewal of the track multidisciplinary downstairs, fences protecting athletes performed with metal frames and a kind of woven pine autoclaved copper baths. The difference in level of the track with respect to the sidewalk and access to the complex is 3 metres. This difference allows us to situate under the bleachers with capacity for 300 seats the changing room equipment, services, equipment rooms, administration, and a deposit of sporting fixture. The sports, of about 1700 m2, consisting of a structure of metallic profiles also holding metal cover. It also has two stairs to the stands.
1 - The building, rectangular in shape, has three hits for the entry and egress of the sports, one of them integrated to the Harry Walker Square has income characteristics of the athletes, which will be modify in order to integrate it to the urban space of the square.
2 - New services tailored to the public on the ground stands next to the main staircase in order to achieve independence between the public and the sports facility.
3 - Replacement of existing stairs to adequate them to the current regulations: toppling the two vertical communication cores of the current sports to project two new stairs that accomplish the accessibility standards and the CTE, while suited to the new changes of the functional project.
4 - Protection to the access to the changing rooms and the sports management: the existing guardrail track is demolished to build a new partition formed by vertical wooden slats to protect potential impacts of sports activities between the track and costumes.
5 - New warehouse under the access gateway: With the same criteria used for the changing separation bulkhead with fixed and sliding modules running a virtual lock to have a new store directly linked to the sports.
Generation of new spaces on the ground floor: leaving intact the distribution of the locker room, has been a redistribution of the spaces in the Gaza aimed at the changing rooms and administration. This has allowed to include two bathrooms for sports users, a meeting room, an office and a machine room. New installation of solar panels on deck.
