Text description provided by the architects. The restoration of this mid-century John Lautner home included a reconsideration of living spaces and bedroom areas, which led to the fabrication of unique furniture pieces and installations that brought back the distinctiveness of the home’s original architecture.
Interior spaces were reduced to an essential palette of white and wooden tones, emphasizing both light and transparency in a home that looks out upon Studio City and further out to the San Gabriel Mountains. The furniture built by NEW THEME seeks to express a contemporary perspective on classic ‘60s mod design in terms of the pieces built for the bedroom, living room and kitchen/dining areas.
