Text description provided by the architects. The architectural proposal intends to implement a contemporary housing program, with two-bedroom apartment units and lofts with two floors as well as exterior private spaces.
All the dwellings benefit from double orientation (east-west), cross ventilation, and protection from the sun in the west-facing living rooms through a terrace with exterior mobile aluminum elements.
The typology of the dwellings in the upper floors allows for a single daytime space that includes the hall, dining room, living room and kitchen, as well as a small bathroom distributor. The single space is open towards both orientations, it is cross-ventilated and its functional flexibility is achieved through two sliding panels that alternatively close off the kitchen and the distributor.
The bedrooms are connected to the daytime space and each is oriented towards either side of the building.
The lofts on the ground and first floors are accessed directly from the portal, and their topological structure follows identical criteria, with the particularity that the bedrooms are located on the first floor, allowing for an enclosed solarium on the ground floor and a small private garden.
The exterior massing is a dark brick parallelepiped with its west façade perforated by terraces with solar protection mobile aluminum elements and glass railings. On the east façade, four staircases with a polycarbonate skin simulate great vertical luminaries during the afternoons.
