Text description provided by the architects. The site is situated amongst an urban fabric characterized a consistent residential fabric, forcing the project to readdress its surroundings. The intention of the project strives to establish a more urban, residential scale, recalling the one that exists on rue des Rogations, whilst ensuring a transition with the smaller adjacent town houses.
The building stands according to an alignment with the public space whilst anchoring the corner of rue des Rogations and rue Ledru Rollin, it recreates a street frontage, an indispensable element in the organisation of this urban fabric. The intention to rebuild a more “urban” scale (size 6 floors) whilst ensuring the integration of the project in its environment means the building is designed according to two principles: verticality and porosity. The building is organised according to the “faults” from which the balconies are installed benefiting from facing in the best direction: in this way, four volumes are designed according to a rising rhythm. A roof that varies in height and depth accentuates this intention. A ground floor operating according to the same intentions enables a plinth effect to be created which develops around the plot.
