Text description provided by the architects. This private Condominium is comprised of 70 dwellings subdivided into 9 housing blocks, which are aggregated in 3 bodies of one or two-bedroom apartment. The aim is to reach exceptional quality and therefore the Complex offers a leisure facility that includes a swimming pool. This feature is complemented with green areas and wooden decks for pedestrian use.
In terms of architectural approach, the image is neutral, pure and functional. Formally, the Project is defined by three groups of volumes that respect the site’s natural morphology and enjoy the privilege views.
The established volumes are interrupted twice with the target of avoiding a continuous elevation and the chance to associate the construction with the urban and natural landscape of the surroundings. The chosen materiality integrates the buildings into the general environment by reducing the impact on the South elevation, which is directly confronting with the Stream (Ria Formosa). The result is a horizontal image of reduced scale.
Internally, the dwellings are compartmentalized according to a repetitive structural metric system and to the principle of modular construction. Therefore, independent to the typologies, all of them has the same genesis (presenting mere adjustments), being even more economic in constructive terms. This solution allows the introduction of optimized solutions.
Furthermore, the balcony can be considered a crucial element in the design of this Project. Having a primordial role, the balcony works as another habitable space, framing the magnificent view and taking it into the interior space. Thereby, it gains its own expression and scale, offering the opportunity of variable uses. The living room, considered the social element of the house, is always overlooking the Stream. Also, the kitchen, being a multipurpose and functional space, serves the living room at all times.
