Text description provided by the architects. Wavehouse - Santa Pizza is located inside a Mall dedicated to sports equipment in Santiago, Chile.
The design strategy was based on the interpretation of the artificiality of the site where the building is inserted. Mall Sport develops a mini lake and a façade that evokes the bow of a ship. By adhering to this mosaic of references that overlap, the restaurant uses the thematic metaphor of the waterfront to develop the strategy: beach at three heights.
At the first level the restaurant opens completely the façade to the pedestrian flow, here the bar has the greater role directing the view towards the artificial wave that allows you to practice the waveboard.
A central staircase allows access to the two upper levels and divides the area into two parts, in the first level a clothing store is located behind it, and upstairs, the bathrooms.
The second level is programmed with the kitchen and a dining room, from here you can see the top of the artificial wave; this space opens to an outside terrace were you can see the yachts that are exposed in the mini lagoon.
From the third level you can see distant views to the hills of Santiago, here the project complete its thematic strategy through the addition of a bar and a terrace of sand that operates as an artificial beach.
