Text description provided by the architects. The house is located in the central valley of Chile, to the South of Santiago City, one hour's drive from Santiago. The land where the house is located, adjacent to a plot used for growing vegetables.
The family that owns the house has a very active social life, both within their family as close friends, so the space to develop this activity are of great size, such as living room, kitchen, attic, and the terrace. All these spaces are connected visually and spatially, like one big social expansion space.Kitchen, living room and terrace in summer, can be transformed into one large meeting space, sliding doors and windows are opened to allow the connection of interior and exterior space. By contrast, in parallel, private grounds are isolated from social activity spaces, always preceded by a gap before entering the bedroom. Each cell functions as an independent within the housing scheme. Thus the public and private activities can be developed smoothly into one place.
The two areas, the social and private sectors share the same variable height ceiling. In the great vertical space of the main bedroom you can live the magnitude of the house, this situation is repeated in the kitchen, the lounge and in the attic, but always with a different perspective, both the inner life, as extension of the countryside.
