Text description provided by the architects. In Russia and the former USSR countries, Yandex is the most popular and successful search system and Internet company. It is actively developing and is in constant need of new offices. Currently, only about ten unique offices in three countries are at the stage of design and construction.
Despite the difficulties that emerged during the crisis, the cooperation between this IT-giant and the architects has continued for over four years. Cooperation between the two companies started with the office for the company branch located in the Northern capital of Russia. For procedures connected with the development of offices outside of Russia, Yandex still turns to za bor architects for design solutions. The architects have always managed to offer well-designed, original solutions within the limits of the allocated budget.
The Yandex Saint Petersburg office was the first office designed by za bor architects for Yandex company. It is situated in the business center close to the Finland Railway Station. The office occupies the fourth floor of the reconstructed 1970s building with the original columns and work frames preserved. At the client's request, za bor architects used a layout with individual rooms strung along a single corridor. To soften the impression, the role of internal walls is played by glazed partitions. Translucent green, yellow and orange coatings have been used to add bright colors to the otherwise gray and white interior.
The ceilings in the corridors and common spaces were left open, while in the meeting rooms, individual offices and other spaces, acoustic paneling was installed. In the work areas there are additional sound insulation ceilings by Ecophon, which are ceilings made of sound absorbing materials that are normally used in the interiors of cinema halls. With about 250 people working in their office, Yandex is a company that pays a great deal of attention to its employees. As a way to boost employee satisfaction, Yandax has included a billiards table in the dinning room, a separate sports room and a library in the office building. Internet wiring and electrical cables are located under the raised floor, a carpet tile manufactured by InterfaceFLOR, which allows quick access to any point of the underfloor communications.
