Text description provided by the architects. Dong Hwa Pharmaceuticals R&D center currently made aims to move the deteriorated R&D center, located inside the Anyang plant of Dong Hwa Pharm. Co., Ltd. in Gyeonggi-do. As the planned site for the movement is decided as Giheung Venture Valley in Yongin, the R&D center expects that it will have a space that can take role as the brain of the company under further developed conditions while maintaining the existing research process. As for programs, all existing 6 departments including new drug, natural materials, pharmacology, medicine method, biology, and analysis moved, and the building for pilot tests and animal tests which enable internal test production has been expanded. The R&D center considers the layout of actually being used as equipment in accordance with the user process, designed to conform to BSL standards, under preparation for approval in the future.
The user process of a business-type R&D center is thoroughly systematic, different from general educational facilities, and joining by part is being processed first. Therefore, the research process and procedures of the existing labs have been thought of and improved with users. This process has been regarded as a good opportunity to understand the characteristics a business-type R&D center can have. Expandability and changeability are priority principles as research spaces accompanying company activities in the fluctuating market economy.
It is mainly because the project of core items in the R&D center broadens its areas in limited space within a short period of time. In addition, the moving lines and working conditions of users in a specific environment experience a repetitive process of concentration and easing. Therefore, the space shall be architecturally responded through system labs and offices that can deal with high-density individual research activities and brainstorming spaces for generating creative ideas. Furthermore, through a free-style lobby and creative spaces, the R&D center expects abundant ideas of users, and plans to generate various kinds of communication through balconies that are vertically linked to the external stairs and decks.
