Open Call for Architects: Daegu Kansong Art Museum International Design Competition

(1) Competition Title
Daegu Kansong Art Museum International Design Competition

(2) Purpose
As the first domestic permanent exhibition space of the Kansong Art Museum,
the Daegu Kansong Art Museum is expected to serve not only as an archive of
our national cultural heritage, but also as a national cultural landmark. Hence,
it is the aim of this design competition to select an exceptional design for the
museum.

(3) Competition Type
In an open call for architects to be commissioned (commissioned architects)
to participate in this project, local and overseas architects are eligible to apply.
Three teams will be selected; they will join 3 other teams (1 local team; 2
overseas teams), composed

Among 78 international participants, Heinle, Wischer und Partner won the first prize in the design competition for the new building of the Stanisław Wyspiański Museum in Krakow, Poland. The project will be built, in the middle of the museum district of the city and next to the historic National Museum.

Extension Created for Design Museum Gent in Belgium

Expansion and Renovation Works for Bruce Museum in Connecticut

The first phase of construction on the Bruce Museum in Greenwich, Connecticut has begun. The New Orleans based architecture, interiors and urban planning firm EskewDumezRipple (EDR) was selected to design the new addition and renovation for the community-based Museum.

Austrian Bureau Selected to Design the Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center in Kyiv

The proposal of the Austrian architecture bureau, Querkraft Architekten, with the landscape architect Kieran Fraser Landscape Design, was selected unanimously as the winning project for the future Babyn Yar Holocaust Memorial Center in Kyiv, Ukraine. Planned to be built on a site that has witnessed massive massacres, the center will be the first Holocaust Memorial in Eastern Europe.

Thomas Phifer Design a Museum and a Theater for Warsaw

Expected to be completed by 2022, The Museum of Modern Art Warsaw and the TR Warszawa Theatre will put in place a new art hub for Warsaw, Poland. The two new cultural entities will add a modern vibe to the rich heritage of the city. Designed by the New York-based studio Thomas Phifer and Partners, the new center of the arts will occupy a 22-acre site.

Hey5 Design Floating Addition to Finland's National Museum

Studio Libeskind Unveils Vision for a Museum for Humankind in Kenya

Studio Libeskind has unveiled details of Ngaren: The Museum for Humankind, a museum dedicated to the story of humans to be situated in the Great Rift Valley, Kenya. Commissioned by paleoanthropologist Richard Leakey, the museum will be the culmination of Dr. Leakey’s work, whose fossil discoveries have helped to reveal how humans evolved. The Museum will be the first center of its kind to present research, discovery, and exploration of more than two million years of human history and the origins of our universe from evolution, biodiversity, overpopulation, to war, disease, and climate change.

Reacting to the influx of gargantuan, iconic museum buildings produced by China’s recent “museum boom,” MORE Architecture aimed to create an intricate, experiential space with their design for Ginkgo Gallery.
