AFC specializes in advanced architectural facade materials, providing innovative and sustainable fiber cement solutions for diverse design needs. The University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA), located in Winston-Salem, NC, updated its campus with the application of AFC's Patinated Fiber Cement Panel - Patina.
Established in 1965 as America’s first public arts conservatory, UNCSA spans 78 acres near Old Salem Museum & Gardens. The renovation project, led by LS3P, integrated Patina panels to update the campus’s facade. These panels provide a low-maintenance solution that contributes to the functionality and longevity of the school’s facilities, with a design that develops subtle weathered characteristics over time, complementing the artistic identity of the campus.
The Patinated Fiber Cement Panel was selected because of its unique finish and ability to withstand environmental challenges. Their low-maintenance properties ensure efficiency over time, while their subtle weathering adds character to the building’s exterior.
