Schluter®-Systems is a company dedicated to creating innovative solutions for the tile and interior design industry. Their collections for wet rooms offer solutions for every step of construction, from creating waterproof divisions, to shower niches with integrated LED lighting and tile protection.
Ceramic and natural stone are esthetically pleasing, practical, and durable, but they are not completely waterproof or resistant to cracking or breakage. Schluter®-DITRA provides an innovative uncoupling technology that prevents the cracking of tile and grout while providing an effective waterproof seal.
Membranes play a crucial role in protecting and preserving the integrity of tile installations, particularly in areas prone to moisture or structural movement. While ceramic and natural stone tiles are known for their durability and aesthetic appeal, they are not inherently waterproof or resistant to cracking. To address these challenges, waterproofing and uncoupling membranes provide a reliable solution, ensuring tile installations last for years while remaining visually flawless.
Membranes offer an essential layer of protection, ensuring that tile installations are not only visually appealing but also long-lasting, resilient, and resistant to the elements that can cause damage over time.
Waterproofing membranes are essential for tiled surfaces in wet areas like showers, bathtub surrounds, or steam rooms. These pliable, sheet-applied membranes are installed directly beneath the tile to create a waterproof barrier. This prevents moisture from seeping into the substrate, which can otherwise lead to water damage, mold, and mildew growth. By incorporating a waterproof membrane, homeowners and contractors can protect their investment in tile installations while maintaining a clean, mold-free environment.
Schluter®-KERDI | Schluter®-KERDI-FLEX | Schluter®-KERDI-KERS |
A pliable sheet-applied waterproofing membrane and vapor-retarder designed for the direct application of tile. KERDI is ideal for use in tiled showers, bathtub surrounds, and residential steam. | A flexible polyethylene waterproofing strip used to seal movement joints over DITRA in specialty applications where large movements are expected, i.e. over expansion joints. | Preformed, seamless corners made of KERDI for waterproofing floor/wall/shower base connections in curbless shower applications where the KERDI-LINE drain is installed. |
Schluter®-KERDI-KM | Schluter®-KERDI-BAND | Schluter®-KERDI-KERECK-F/-KERS-B |
A pre-cut collar of the KERDI waterproofing membrane is designed to seal around pipes or other similar elements through KERDI or DITRA/DITRA-XL membranes. | A waterproofing strip used to seal butt joints and floor/wall connections with KERDI and DITRA membranes and KERDI-BOARD building panels. | Preformed, seamless corners made for waterproofing inside and outside corners of KERDI, KERDI-BOARD, and DITRA assemblies to prevent leaks and mold growth. |
Schluter®-KERDI-SEAL-PS/-MV | Schluter®-KERDI-DS | |
Prefabricated waterproofing seals with over-molded rubber gaskets designed for protrusions through KERDI, DITRA, or DITRA-XL membranes. | A bonded waterproofing membrane and vapor retarder with very low water vapor permeance for use in continuous-use steam rooms and similar applications. |
Uncoupling Membranes (DITRA)
Uncoupling membranes are designed to protect tile installations from the stresses caused by movement in the underlying substrate. The uncoupling layer serves as a buffer, allowing in-plane movement between the substrate and the tile, preventing stress from transferring to the tile surface. This significantly reduces the risk of cracks or damage, even in environments where the structure is subject to slight shifts. With the addition of uncoupling membranes, tile floors can maintain their beauty and structural integrity for years.

Schluter®-DITRA & DITRA-XL | Schluter®-DITRA-PS |
Specifically designed for ceramic and stone tile installations. DITRA and DITRA-XL provide uncoupling to prevent cracked tile and grout. | DITRA-PS brings the benefits of the original DITRA membrane—the multi-tasking underlayment that provides uncoupling, load distribution, waterproofing, and vapor management for durable tile installations. |
Removable Fleece for temporary solutions
These membranes feature a self-adhesive backing, making them easy to install and remove when temporary tile floor coverings are needed. This is particularly useful in situations where a space may need to be renovated or reconfigured without the commitment of a permanent tile installation.
Schluter®-REFLEECE |
Made of recycled PET with a self-adhesive coating on the back, REFLEECE measures 1/32” (0.8 mm) thick and is suitable for the application of temporary, removable tile and natural stone coverings. REFLEECE is easy to install and can be removed during deconstruction without causing damage to the existing subfloor. |
Sound Control Membranes
Sound control membranes are designed to reduce impact noise, such as footsteps, traveling between floors. These membranes include an integrated bonding fleece that helps diminish sound transmission while providing the same uncoupling and waterproofing benefits as other membranes. The dual functionality makes them ideal for spaces where noise reduction and tile protection are both priorities.
The Schluter®-DITRA-HEAT-DUO uncoupling and waterproofing membrane features an integrated bonding fleece that reduces impact sound transmission through floor-ceiling assemblies. The membrane can also be customized with DITRA-HEAT-E-HK floor heating cables to create a warm, luxurious tile floor and is available by the roll or by the sheet to accommodate various room sizes. It comes in nominal 5/16” (8mm) thickness that minimizes tile assembly thickness and reduces transitions to lower surface coverings.
This peel & stick uncoupling membrane features a pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA) to bond the membrane to the substrate, eliminating the need for thin-set mortar.
Quick and easy to install, DITRA-HEAT-DUO-PS has an integrated bonding fleece that provides sound control, as well as a thermal break.
