Sapien develops interior and exterior finishes from predominately natural materials with a value on aesthetics, sustainability and functionality. Sapien's Ardes exterior cladding was used in the Volcanalia project, located in Gambellara, Italy.
Nestled between the volcanic hills of the Vincenza region, Volcanalia is a winery designed by ASA Studio to interweave connection with the land into each aspect of the design process. ASA sought natural and sustainable raw materials with aesthetic interest. They selected Sapien's Adres Dry Hi-Tech facade panels because of their ancient charred wood appearance and low maintenance.
Ardes Dry cladding was mounted on Accoya joists with custom-length, triple-width planks, forming three parallel bands on the facade. A concealed steel dowel system ensured invisible fastening, while matching vertical slats and camouflaged entrance doors blended seamlessly into the flush wall design. The panels were also selected for their exceptional dimensional stability, making them ideal for warm environments with high humidity. Its technical performance perfectly met the project’s specific requirements.
