Shade Factor is a leading Australian specialist in custom-made, high-performance and long-lasting shading products for residential and commercial buildings. External Venetian Blinds from Shade Factor were used in House on the Bay, located in Melbourne, Australia.
Tegl House in Armadale, Melbourne is distinguished by its use of hand-laid Danish bricks, giving the house its name and distinctive external appearance. The bricks lends craftsmanship and texture, contrasting the sleek and modern interior spaces. The residence features a carefully planned layout that maximizes the connection between indoor and outdoor areas, including a central courtyard that enhances natural light flow.
To manage sunlight and maintain thermal comfort, Warema External Venetian Blinds were selected to integrate seamlessly with the architectural design. Shade Factor supplied and installed these motorized blinds, which feature 80mm flat slats, offering precise sunlight control. The blinds are effective in reducing glare and heat through the large expanses of glazing while ensuring that the aesthetic integrity of the façade is preserved.
The blinds’ retractable design allows them to be concealed when not in use, maintaining the clean lines of the building. This integration of modern sun shading with traditional materials highlights the balance between form and function in Tegl House, creating a comfortable living environment that respects both aesthetic and environmental considerations.
