MDT designs, manufactures and supplies innovative, high-quality sun protection systems, membrane constructions, and textile outdoor architecture to customers worldwide. Eight large Type E Tulip Umbrellas from MDT were used to provide shelter at the Natural History Museum Ticket booth in Los Angeles, United States.
The Los Angeles Natural History Museum opened in 1913—since then it's undergone multiple modifications. In 2011 they added an entire hall specifically for dinosaurs and wanted to account for the increase in visitors. Part of these considerations included providing visitors with sun and rain protection at the museum's restaurant and ticketing areas.
MDT Type E Tulip Umbrellas were selected in a vibrant green acrylic fabric. The colored pigment is spun into the acrylic fibers during production to create bright colors that are resistant to fading, which is a common problem for fabric that's constantly exposed to UV rays.
