MDT designs, manufactures and supplies innovative, high-quality sun protection systems, membrane constructions, and textile outdoor architecture to customers worldwide. A wooden tensile structure by MDT was used at 3 Days of Design, outside the Swiss Embassy in Denmark.
3 Days of Design is an annual festival that provides a platform for both emerging and established design brands from Denmark and around the globe. Both Switzerland and Denmark have a rich history when it comes to timber construction—until the construction industry began favoring brick and concrete over wood. As reducing carbon footprints becomes increasingly valued, there has been a revived interest in wood creating large structures. "Into the Woods" is a tensile structure that promotes wood as a building material.
The substructure of the wooden floor is a metal frame laid with wooden slats. The safe stand of the garden pavilion guarantees stable ground anchoring, which holds the entire construction firmly to the ground at all three corners. The floor construction, as well as the membrane, were designed by MDT-tex. Due to its unique shape, the garden pavilion is wind- and weatherproof, which is especially important given its proximity to the sea.
