Sylva™ LVL Beams & Columns
Laminated veneer lumber (LVL) is a mass timber product that is twice as strong as steel in proportion to weight. It provides an ideal solution when strength, dimensional stability, and high load-bearing capacity are essential.
LVL beams and columns are available in max size of panels 24,000 mm x 2,400 mm x 75 mm that are format cut and CNC-processed to the desired dimensions. For thicknesses greater than 75 mm, Stora Enso offers LVL G beams and columns made by regluing the LVL panels together flatwise.
The ability of Sylva™ LVL columns to take high vertical loads and the rigid and robust performance of Sylva™ LVL beams make them ideal for use in primary and secondary applications, particularly in industrial and storage buildings.
For primary and secondary beam and column applications, LVL S and LVL GS are recommended. Where openings are required in beams or where more lateral stiffness is required to prevent buckling, LVL X and LVL GX are recommended.

Sylva™ GLT Beams & Columns
Glued-laminated timber (GLT/Glulam) is often used in long-span designs, where it can replace steel and concrete in beams, columns, and other load-bearing structures.
Sylva™ GLT Columns can reach great vertical heights and are an ideal material for primary and secondary applications in low- to mid-rise buildings when combined with rigid and robust Sylva™ GLT Beams.
They are optimal for low to medium-rise buildings with structural grid spacings up to approximately 9 m.
GLT is made by bonding multiple finger-jointed layers of strength-graded boards together with high-strength adhesive. It can be produced in both standard sizes and custom dimensions to suit long-span designs. To fit the needs of different projects, GLT by Stora Enso is available in visual grade and a more economical industrial grade.
Sylva™ GLT Beams are made from the strongest parts of the tree, which makes them considerably more sturdy than solid-sawn beams of the same size. Depending on budget and requirements, Sylva™ GLT Beams can be manufactured as homogenous boards (GLh) or combined boards (GLc).
