Timber Cladding at the Pavilion Performing Arts Centre | Sculptform

Recently, CHROFI and NBRS revitalized the Pavilion Performing Arts Centre in Australia, incorporating Sculptform's Click-on Battens and Tongue & Groove Cladding systems across various sections of the structure.

The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre, formerly known as The Sutherland Entertainment Centre, was redesigned by CHROFI and NBRS to create a modern public venue adaptable to diverse cultural and technical needs. A key feature of the redesign is the expansive foyer, seamlessly blending interior and exterior spaces. The versatile foyer serves as a venue for various public occasions, including gatherings, shows, banquets, exhibitions, and speaker tours. Click-on Battens were used across the interior and exterior of the foyer's ceiling, creating an intricate grid pattern resembling a woven tapestry of timber. Using Sculptform's ceiling mounting track system the battens were easily connected to ceiling tracks for easy installation.

Inside the main auditorium, tiered seating replaced the original flat floor, with upgraded acoustics, accessibility, and back-of-house functions. Click-on Battens were used on the first-floor walls, crafted from Australian Ash with a custom curved profile, enhancing the interior ambiance and providing acoustic benefits.

The Pavilion Performing Arts Centre features alfresco areas, enhancing the connection to the landscape and providing a space for patrons to enjoy refreshments before, during, and after events. The ceiling of these areas is covered in Tongue & Groove Cladding made from Australian Ash and coated in clear oil for durability outdoors.

Click-on Batten - This Sculptform system is suitable for wall, ceiling, or facade cladding, indoors or outdoors. The battens securely attach to concealed mounting tracks through a push-click mechanism, with factory-fixed batten clips ensuring precise spacing and easy installation. The system provides two batten profiles, Block and Tube, allowing architects and designers to create varied clad surfaces. Different finishing options are available, including wood finish aluminum and real timber veneer, striking a balance between aesthetics, durability, and project certification requirements.

Tongue & Groove Cladding - Sculptform's Tongue and Groove Cladding offers versatility, with options in various timber species and board profiles. Suitable for both interior and exterior use, this system can be installed vertically or horizontally on different substrates, including blockwork and stud walls.
