Tactile Materials is an international company dedicated to the supply and production of customized metal cladding for architectural endeavors. The materials, finishes, and technologies developed by Tactile Materials are available for innovative projects in residential and large-scale design, such as the cladding for the Safal Privilon in Ahmedabad.
The four nineteen-story towers and joining podium comprise the mixed-use project including office and retail environments. The tower features intermittent massing that appears to float free of each other and mitigates its own monolithic appearance. GFRC cladding provides vertical and horizontal accents around semi-unitized curtain walls. Other dominant features include vertical aluminum fin walls and cantilevered slabs with structural glass windscreens and handrails.
Tactile forming technologies include precision break forming, rolling, hydroforming, and variable hydraulic forming. Curvilinear shapes, as well as intersecting forms, can be joined to create seamless cladding elements. Tactile's formed aluminum sheets and plates are offered in ventilated rainscreen assemblies with open joinery, an integrated gutter system, and diverters, to route water down the system and mitigate soiling.
Tactile collaborated with the design studios in the Façade consulting process, including material applications, schematic design, design development, construction documents, bid/negotiation/procurement, and construction administration.
