Tactile Materials is an international company dedicated to the supply and production of customized metal cladding for architectural endeavors. One of the main uses for Tactile Materials is interior wall cladding for residential projects, such as the leather and bronze finishings of this private property in San Diego, the Beach House by Giannone Petricone Associates.
The project evolved from the architect’s massing model and inspiration images. Working with the client and the architect, Tactile's engineering and manufacturing team developed refined casting methods to support the project. Each sightline and joint is deliberate with the depth of the Tactile Smooth Platen Cast Bronze Cladding™.
Cast bronze has an unmatched history of resiliency in architectural applications. Tactile has pioneered new technologies for working with cast bronze, such as their new casting methods. These methods allow architects more options including organic surfaces featuring the visual movement of material, curvilinear shapes, or at the other end of the spectrum, smooth, polished surfaces.
The Tactile Leather Cladding systems include a wide range of applied patterns, surface treatments, embossing, and colors. The leather is factory-applied to an inert substructure, which is attached to Tactile's fixing system. Accent joinery and lighting are options for reveals within the leather panels.
