Tactile Materials is an international company dedicated to the supply and production of customized metal cladding for architectural endeavors. The Tactile Porcelain Enamel Metal Cladding™ is available for interior and exterior use.
The ability to create interior cladding with vivid colors and extremely durable surfaces is a major advantage for architects. Tactile Porcelain Enamel Metal Cladding™ is unlike traditional, high-performance, organic coatings in that it is colorfast and non-degradable.
Tactile's porcelain cladding can feature curvilinear shapes, simple curves, perforations, and embossed surfaces.

In the case of porcelain enamel for exterior metal cladding, unlike many organic coatings, such as high-performance paints, Tactile Porcelain is colorfast, nondegradable, and highly resistant to vandalism, abrasion, and the negative effects of harsh environments.
Tactile Porcelain Enamel Metal™ can be produced in a wide array of colors from muted earth tones to wild super-vivid. Tactile also offers metallic, metallescent, and iridescent finishes which change character depending on sun exposure and point of view. Tactile Porcelain Digital Ceramic™ allows architects the opportunity to integrate customized graphics within the metal cladding or create an entire mural. The Tactile Porcelain Cladding system can integrate curvilinear shapes, simple curves, perforations, and embossed surfaces.
Tactile has created the Porcelain Enamel Metal Cladding™, with iridescent, metallescent, fractured, textured, and super vivid colors that are now part of Tactile's very large palette of finishes. Tactile's digital ceramic technology allows architects to integrate durable photo-quality graphics on a large scale, on building facades and interiors.
The surface of materials with Tactile Porcelain Enamel has a non-directional vitreous finish, with 10 gloss units or higher. It comes in the finishes solid, metallic, metallescent, iridescent, fractured, sputter Coat, and digital Ceramic.
The cladding can be assembled into walls with joint sizes from 10 mm (3/8”) and up to 25 mm (1”).
The Tactile Porcelain Enamel Metal cladding for exteriors has two cladding options:
- Ventilated Rainscreen with Diverters and Gutters
- Closed System with Sealed Joints
Tactile Porcelain Enamel Metal Cladding™ is also available in ventilated rain screens with open joints, sealed joint design, and interior applications with monochromatic or contrasting joint trim.
Composition
The metal cladding with porcelain enamel comes in nominal pieces that are 20 mm (3/4”) to 50 mm thick (2”) of porcelain enamel on steel, in a primarily vitreous, inorganic coating, bonded to tension-leveled specialty steel by fusion at high temperature.
Core materials options include aluminum honeycomb and calcium silicate board, with or without backup sheets of G90 galvanized steel.
