Tactile Materials is an international company dedicated to the supply and production of customized metal cladding for architectural endeavors. The formed cladding in bronze or copper by Tactile is available for interior and exterior use.

Utilizing bronze and copper, Tactile produces sightlines, flat planes, embossed patterns, carved surfaces, and organic shapes. Tactile constructs their formed metal designs using hydroforming; contoured hydraulic forming; brake forming; laser cutting and five-axis milling, and they offer organic and composite high-performance coatings; patinas; industrial dyes, and pre-weathered finishing options.

Formed sheet and plate bronze and copper have inherent warmth, organic character, and long-term durability. Tactile forming technologies include precision break forming, rolling, hydroforming, and variable hydraulic forming. With thinner materials, they are hand-hammered and chased in a very traditional manner. Curvilinear shapes, as well as intersecting forms, can be joined to create seamless cladding elements. The formed bronze and copper cladding is offered in ventilated rainscreen assemblies with open joinery, an integrated gutter system, and diverters to route water down the system and mitigate soiling.

Composition

Tactile's formed and plate bronze and copper are available in a variety of alloys depending on the desired underlying character of the metal. Sheet materials start at 1.5 mm (1/16”) up to 4.76 mm (3/16”) and Tactile's plate materials range from 6 mm (1/4”) to 12.7 mm (1/2”). Tactile's formed cladding systems have an engineered pin system that allows the panels to expand and contract within the integrated gutter system. All exposed bronze or copper surfaces are finished with a wide variety of textures and patinas and CDA-approved clear coating, which is applied to the surface.
