More about this product

SunStyle is a pioneering company that has manufactured renewable energy solutions for over a decade. The SunStyle photovoltaic roof tiles were used to renovate Haus B, a 1950s residential building in Stuttgart, Germany.

Application of Photovoltaic Modules

This award-winning residential complex in Stuttgart was completed in 2016 and features a modernist design by Yonder Architecture and Design. Built on a hill overlooking Stuttgart's river valley, Haus B offers panoramic views from all levels. Inside, the house is distinguished by its wooden finishes and various environmentally friendly features. The building is a plus-energy structure that feeds surplus energy into the power grid. It features geothermal wells that provide groundwater to heat and cool the ceilings and floors. The facade is highly insulated, offering optimal protection against summer heat and winter cold.

The residence integrates the SunStyle solar roof tiles, which cover 110 m² of the roof area and generate 30 kWh/m², offsetting 59% of the building’s total energy consumption. Yonder Architecture and Design collaborated with architect Stefan Behnisch, the owner of Haus B, to renovate this 1950s residential building to merge design and ecology. The SunStyle solar roof allowed them to materialize their vision of a house that produces more electricity than it consumes. The solar roof is particularly striking when viewed from the top of the hill, necessitating an innovative design that respects the exterior aesthetics of the house while blending with its surroundings.
