SunStyle is a pioneering company that has manufactured renewable energy solutions for more than a decade. The SunStyle photovoltaic roof tiles were used in the Google Bay View campus buildings, located in Mountain View, California, in the United States.

Located in Silicon Valley, the Google Bay View campus is a cluster of three buildings covering a 40-acre site that includes an events center and two workplaces for Google employees. The buildings follow a rigid catenary roof structure, optimized for interior daylight, views, collaboration, experiences, and activities. This development is part of Google's goal to become the first major company to operate carbon-free 24 hours a day, seven days a week by 2030.
The architects from Bjarke Ingels Group and Heatherwick Studio have designed a unique "dragon scale" roof clad with photovoltaic panels by SunStyle to meet innovative requirements. The installation of 90,000 Dragonscale solar tiles on four buildings will produce 7 megawatts of renewable energy, meeting about 40% of the campus’ annual energy needs. The black color of the SunStyle solar tiles is efficient in producing solar energy and allows for solar production 365 days a year. Furthermore, the rhomboidal arrangement of the solar tiles on the Dragonscale roof prevents wind, rain, and ice from seeping into the gaps. Unlike a flat roof that generates peak energy at the same time every day, the curved shapes of the roof, covered with a kind of solar dragon skin, generate energy for a longer period of the day.
