Trimo is a company dedicated to the development and production of envelope systems and modular space solutions. Their product Qbiss Notch is a prefabricated architectural facade system, that has been reinterpreted in a collaboration with luxury car manufacturer Pininfarina.
The Qbiss wall system consists of metal panels with A1 mineral wool insulation and round corners that can cover a facade with one single panel.
The Qbiss Notch by Pininfarina and Trimo is an exclusive edition, composed of three elements that blend into each panel of the system:
- Qbiss panels. Available in multiple sizes, they act as a canvas for the visual language of the project. Their modular and precise engineering guarantees their integration into diverse architectural contexts.
- Engraved curves. The Notch Wall System has an alphabet of curves and glyphs, engraved directly onto the Qbiss panels. This feature allows for a dynamic embossment depth that can vary from 0 to 2 mm, depending on the design requirements. This engraving process not only adds a tactile dimension to the façade but also plays with light and shadow.
- Plugins. Decorative and lighting plugins, or "wings", offer additional customization and functionality. These plug-ins are available in two proportional scales and can accommodate different profiles and materials.
The Qbiss Notch system is designed for both interior and exterior applications and for diverse building scales. The system can also customize the engravings of its surface, allowing designers to integrate it further into their vision and context.
The Plug-ins or “wings” and the Qbiss Notch module can be customized as ceramic cladding, which is resistant to decay and can offer extra insulation, or aluminum cladding, which is favored in facade design for its durable, lightweight, and versatile properties. Its corrosion resistance ensures longevity, while malleability allows intricate detailing.
There are 23 standard colors for the facades and plugins, that can be selected and combined as needed. Lighting fixtures can be added to the plugins in cold, neutral, and warm light.
