Courtyard Seating at the Polytechnic University of Turin | PLUST

The PLUST Collection project was established in 2007 as a euro3plast SpA design brand, a leading manufacturer of traditional pots entirely Made in Italy. Various products from PLUST’s Fade family were used at The Polytechnic University of Turin, Italy.

The Department of Architecture and Design is the leading branch of Turin’s Polytechnic University. Housed within Valentino Castle, a wonderful Savoy estate and UNESCO heritage site, selecting furniture for the castle's portico which welcomes students and visitors alike was of pivotal importance for this project. The furniture designed by Marco Gregori as part of PLUST’s Fade family was selected by the Valentino Castle to give students and visitors a moment of relaxation while enjoying the vista of the historical courtyard.

The entire Fade furniture family combines the practicality of polyethylene with a distinctive striped finish that evokes the tactile and visual perceptions of natural materials, guaranteeing comfortable seating. The Fade Relax armchairs and matching coffee table were chosen for their soft, welcoming lines, which have special finishes reminiscent of natural materials. Chosen in the color Lava, the rustic color, combined with a striped finish mirrors the complex colors and textures of the castle itself.

Additionally, as sunlight bathes the courtyard throughout the day, the surfaces of the armchairs and tables come alive, enhancing the ambiance for visitors and guests. The sculptural volume reveals its striped appearance, providing pleasant effects of light and shadow that animate the courtyard.
