Glulam Beams in Homerton College | Siero Lam

Siero Lam is a leading European manufacturer of chestnut wood and other high quality Woods products prioritizing customer service and circular economy principles. Glulam beams from Siero Lam were used in the Homerton College Dining Hall at the University of Cambridge, in the UK.

The Homerton College Dining Hall at the University of Cambridge won the 2022 Wood Awards for the best new timber building in the UK. Constructed primarily with laminated chestnut wood beams, it impressed the judges with its cozy, elegant, and impressive design.

The hall preserves the natural beauty of chestnut wood while providing a bright, spacious environment during the day and transforming into a ceremonial stage at night. Its remarkable wooden structure lacks interrupted supports, creating a wide, open space inside. This successful combination of traditional elegance and wood's structural potential pays tribute to aesthetics and tradition while showcasing wood's capabilities.

For this project, glulam beams from Siero Lam were applied.
